shmel carter, Jakatra Bell“Our bond is going to be at least two hundred and fifty thousand a
piece mom.” I stressed to her. I saw as her demeanor changed. Little
did she know money was not an object. I could pay both of our
bonds and still be fine.
“I mean how will you get out? Do you have that kind of money? I
am doing well for myself, but I don’t have that kind of money.”
“I have the money Ma. I am going to give you two signed checks
from me. The amount I will leave empty. If they issue a warrant for
our arrest, make the check payable to you and come and bail us out.
Can you do that for us Ma?” She shook her head yes as she was
saying yes at the same time. “It is the least that I can do Yas. I pray
they don’t lock yall up, but if they do I promise you I will come
through. This is my time to prove that I can be there for the two of
you. I reached into my pink Chanel purse, and pulled out my check
book. I did as I told her, and handed her the checks. She walked
over to the mantle above her fire place and placed them there.
