Microsoft has shown interest in joining the race of AI by redefining the roles of its research department, Microsoft Research. In this chapter, the efforts of the company in contributing to the development of AI and DL research are presented. The company’s progress in AI can be seen in its cloud service Azure. The purpose of this chapter is to elucidate the use of cloud technology by Microsoft. Also, we’ll discuss how Microsoft is enabling deep learning- based product development and strategizing business models with the cloud-based artificial intelligence services.
