Charlotte von Stein: Schriftstellerin, Freundin und Mentorin

A confidant of the ducal family and a friend of Goethe, Wieland, Herder, and the Schillers, Charlotte von Stein (1742–1827) was a central figure in Weimar’s classical era. While she is remembered today mainly for her influence on Goethe, the essays in this volume highlight her activities as correspondent, writer, and illustrator. The volume also includes a catalogue of the Weimar Exhibition marking the 275th anniversary of its founding.
